Iowa Women’s Basketball Star Caitlin Clark to Participate in “Kids’ Day” Activities on Saturday, July 23 During Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend

More than 1,000 local youth will attend the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 and enjoy a day full of music, food and festivities.

Hy-Vee, Inc. and INDYCAR announce today that Saturday, July 23, has been designated “Kids’ Day” during the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway. More than 1,000 youth from central Iowa-area youth programs and school districts will attend the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 presented by DoorDash NTT INDYCAR SERIES race and also watch live concerts featuring country music superstars Tim McGraw and Florida Georgia Line. Additionally, University of Iowa Women’s Basketball star player Caitlin Clark will also make a special appearance as part of the Saturday activities. 

All kids attending Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend on Saturday will get the chance to meet Caitlin Clark at the Hy-Vee KidsFit tent beginning at 11 a.m. Fans will get a chance to visit with Clark and even compete in a 30-second shot clock challenge with the standout. Caitlin Clark is the only Division 1 women’s basketball player to lead the country in both points per game and assists per game in a single season.

Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend is designed for fans of all ages and will include a Kid Zone, which includes the Hy-Vee KidsFit activities area, special appearances by celebrities, the Red Bull gaming truck, Iowa State University’s Forward Learning Experience (FLEx) and other fun activations. There will also be a weekend-long Food Truck Challenge with 50 food truck vendors competing to be the fan favorite at the track. Race fans will get a chance to vote for their favorite street cuisine, with the top three food truck vendors winning cash prizes.

Three-time Grammy award-winning country music superstar Tim McGraw will perform prior to the start of the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 presented by DoorDash. Following Saturday’s race, Billboard record-holding country music duo Florida Georgia Line will take to the stage at Iowa Speedway. 

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 presented by DoorDash is the first of two NTT INDYCAR SERIES races during race weekend and the only doubleheader on this season’s series calendar. On Sunday, July 24, teams and drivers will compete in the Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 presented by Google NTT INDYCAR SERIES race. Three-time Grammy award winner and multi-platinum artist Gwen Stefani will perform the pre-race concert on Sunday, and nine-time Grammy-nominated country music artist Blake Shelton will provide a memorable ending to the turbocharged weekend following Sunday’s race. 

Both pre- and post-race concerts are included with Saturday and Sunday Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend tickets as each artist will perform on stage trackside, in front of the main grandstands at Iowa Speedway. Both pre-race concerts will feature 50-minute performances while each post-race concert will feature a 90-minute show.

Hy-Vee first became involved in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES when the supermarket chain was the primary sponsor for Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) Racing’s No. 15 car in Race 2 of the 2020 Iowa Speedway doubleheader.
